Calendula officinalis Petal Derived Callus Extract

Pot Marigold

OUR FIRST FLOWER DERIVED CALLUS EXTRACT

Our Calendula plant stem cell extract strengthens the skin and provides topical protection through antioxidant and anti-irritant activities. This callus extract is developed from the petal tissue. Petals are one of the four components in the flower. This cell line is an intermediate between a flower extract and a plant stem cell extract and produces some actives that are found in undifferentiated Calendula cells and some specific to the flower. The extract is high in phenolics and contain the phenolic coumarin scopoletin, which has been reported to have therapeutic and chemo preventive effects, as well as anti-irritant, protective and antioxidant effects.

HISTORICAL USE

Pot marigold, one of the oldest of all cultivated flowers, was used by Ancient Egyptians to rejuvenate the skin. The flowers were also used in battlefields, to treat open wounds, as antiseptic and to promote healing. The plant has also been used to treat various skin ulcerations and eczema and is high in phenolics and flavonoids. Our Calendula extract has been boosted by subcomponent feeding to further stimulate production of phenolics, and has strengthening, astringent and rejuvenating properties.
